Why it started

I wanted two things.

The first was fun: the same feeling using a controller on a full mix that I get from a two-channel mixer when I DJ. I wanted plugin chains to feel playable.

The second came from working with people on other DAWs. Sharing an idea meant bouncing a stem, and a stem is the sound with the chain sanded off it. They got the result, not the settings, and nothing could be adjusted without coming back to me.

I wanted plugin chains to be fun to play, and easy to tweak across projects, DAWs, and borders.

The problem

Powerful tools. Fragmented workflows.

After using Cubase since the mid-90s and plugins since their earliest days, the same barriers kept appearing between the idea and the result.

01 / Windows

Detached interfaces

Creative decisions scattered across overlapping plugin windows.

02 / Control

Disposable mappings

Custom control setups that only make sense once.

03 / Sharing

Frozen stems

Collaborating across different DAWs meant bouncing audio, and a stem can only be replaced, never adjusted.

The response

Inter::State is my answer to that.

Ravine DSP is not about replacing the tools you already know. It is about helping them work together better.

Less window management. Less repeated setup. Chains you can reuse, refine, and pass on instead of bouncing them down.

Why Ravine?

A ravine runs between giants.

“Because things that flow deep, flow quietly.”

Craig Lopez / Founder

Ravine DSP is developed by me, Craig Lopez.

Some people will know me from Tutorial[ism], the YouTube channel that evolved into Ravine DSP. Others from DJ booths around Hong Kong—Drop, Fayy, Petticoat Lane—which is where the idea for Inter::State started.

Being a solo developer means I can build products I genuinely want to use myself: no committee, no trend-chasing, direct support, and a long-term interest in making software that earns its place.

Acknowledgement Early in development I worked with Manish Verma, who helped get the project off the ground. I remain grateful for that contribution.

Principles

What guides the work.

Focused software should make a complex workflow more coherent without getting between the musician and the result.

01

Use what you own

Connect and control existing tools instead of demanding a replacement ecosystem.

02

Make it playable

Turn detailed software workflows into tactile, expressive control.

03

Keep it direct

Build useful products, provide direct support, and improve them through real use.
