End User License Agreement (EULA) for InterState
IMPORTANT - READ CAREFULLY: This End User License Agreement (**"EULA"**) is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity) and Ravine DSP Limited (**"Company," "we," "us," or "our"**) for the software product InterState, including any companion plugins (including the InterState Bridge), plugin scanning utilities, background helper applications, associated media, factory assets, printed materials, and online or electronic documentation (collectively, the "Software").
By installing, copying, activating, or otherwise using the Software, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, do not install, activate, or use the Software.
1. Grant of License
The Software is licensed, not sold. Subject to your applicable purchase, trial, beta, promotional, subscription, or other entitlement, the Company grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software in accordance with this EULA.
Permitted Installations: You may install and activate the Software on up to 3 computers owned and personally used by you, unless a different allowance is expressly stated in your purchase terms or license entitlement.
Simultaneous Use: You may not use the Software on more than one computer simultaneously.
No Transfer: You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, transfer, or sub-license the Software, your account access, or your license key to any third party.
2. Restrictions
You may not, and you may not permit others to:
Reverse engineer, decompile, decode, decrypt, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, internal structure, or licensing mechanisms of the Software, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
Modify, adapt, alter, translate, or create derivative works from the Software.
Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices, labels, trademarks, copyright notices, or other marks from the Software.
Bypass, modify, disable, or defeat any license manager, activation system, copy-protection, security, integrity-checking, or usage-control mechanism within the Software.
Use the Software in a manner that infringes the rights of any third party or violates any applicable law.
3. Third-Party Plugins, Scanning, and Hosting Disclaimer
InterState operates as a plugin host/chainer environment that allows you to scan, list, load, and process third-party audio plugins, including formats such as VST3 and Audio Unit where supported. You acknowledge and agree that:
Third-Party Code: The Company does not develop, control, verify, or endorse any third-party plugins loaded into or scanned by the Software.
Plugin Scanner: The Software includes a plugin scanning helper utility designed to inspect third-party plugins and build a local plugin list. Probing unstable, corrupted, malicious, incompatible, or incorrectly installed third-party software may cause the scanning utility, the host application, your DAW, or the plugin process to crash, hang, produce errors, or behave unexpectedly.
Plugin Hosting Risk: Loading third-party plugins inside InterState may expose InterState and your DAW session to defects, crashes, excessive CPU usage, memory issues, latency, audio glitches, incorrect parameter reporting, malicious behavior, or copy-protection failures caused by those third-party plugins.
No Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company is not responsible or liable for any system crashes, DAW instability, project corruption, data loss, plugin authorization issues, CPU spikes, malicious code, security issues, or other damage resulting from the scanning, loading, hosting, automation, routing, or use of third-party plugins within the Software.
Your Responsibility: It is your responsibility to ensure that any third-party software you scan or load into InterState is legally licensed, compatible, stable, and safe to use.
4. Local Communication, IPC, and Shared Memory
Certain companion features of the Software, including the InterState Bridge, use local inter-process communication technologies to synchronize control data, MIDI/control messages, plugin-instance state, and related information between plugin instances running on the same computer.
These mechanisms may include local host communication, OSC/UDP over localhost or local network interfaces, memory-mapped files, named shared memory objects, temporary files, lock files, and other operating-system facilities.
Your operating system, firewall, DAW, or security software may prompt you to allow local communication or may restrict these features. This local communication is required for certain Software features to operate as intended.
The Software does not use the InterState Bridge local control protocol to transmit your personal audio data over the internet. However, separate activation, licensing, update, support, analytics, crash reporting, or website services, if enabled or used, may involve internet communication as described in this EULA, the Software, or any applicable privacy notice.
5. Activation, License Validation, and Local Data
The Software may use third-party licensing infrastructure, including Moonbase, to activate, validate, deactivate, verify, or manage your license, trial, subscription, or other entitlement.
License validation may require internet communication and may involve processing information such as license keys, activation status, product identifiers, device or installation identifiers, operating system information, IP address, timestamps, validation responses, and related diagnostic metadata.
The Software may also store local runtime data, including settings, activation state, license-related data, plugin scan results, plugin blocklists, logs, mapping defaults, factory asset references, preferences, and other configuration data in standard user or system application data folders for your operating system.
You acknowledge that disabling internet access, blocking licensing services, deleting local license data, changing hardware, reinstalling your operating system, or modifying system security settings may affect activation, trial status, license validation, or Software functionality.
6. Audio and Hearing Damage Disclaimer
Audio software can produce sudden, loud, unexpected, distorted, or potentially damaging audio signals, including feedback loops, digital clipping, unstable third-party plugin output, extreme modulation, routing mistakes, or automation changes.
Protect Your Hearing and Equipment: You are strongly advised to keep your studio monitors and headphone levels at a safe volume, especially when scanning plugins, loading unfamiliar third-party plugins, creating complex plugin chains, routing sidechains, automating parameters, or using modulation features.
No Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company shall not be liable for any hearing loss, tinnitus, blown speakers, damaged headphones, damaged audio equipment, physical injury, or other hardware damage resulting from the use or misuse of the Software.
7. Third-Party Components and Notices
The Software may include, link against, or interoperate with third-party libraries, frameworks, SDKs, modules, services, or tools, including audio plugin SDKs, JUCE framework components, licensing infrastructure, operating system APIs, and other third-party materials.
Such third-party components may be subject to their own license terms, notices, disclaimers, or attribution requirements. Where required, those notices will be provided in accompanying documentation, a Third-Party Notices file, the Software, or the installer.
Nothing in this EULA limits any rights you may have under applicable open-source licenses for third-party components.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE COMPANY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
THE COMPANY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, COMPLETELY SECURE, COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATION, PLUGIN FORMAT, THIRD-PARTY PLUGIN, HARDWARE CONFIGURATION, OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION, SECURITY TOOL, OR AUDIO DRIVER, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, LICENSORS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF REVENUE, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, LOSS OF DATA, PROJECT CORRUPTION, LOSS OF GOODWILL, COMPUTER FAILURE, DAW INSTABILITY, AUDIO EQUIPMENT DAMAGE, OR ANY OTHER COMMERCIAL OR PECUNIARY LOSS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF THE COMPANY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN ANY CASE, THE COMPANY'S ENTIRE LIABILITY UNDER OR IN CONNECTION WITH THIS EULA SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU FOR THE SOFTWARE DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In such cases, the Company's liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
10. Termination
This EULA is effective until terminated.
Your rights under this EULA will terminate automatically without notice from the Company if you fail to comply with any term of this EULA, including by distributing unauthorized copies, sharing license keys, bypassing activation, cracking the Software, or otherwise violating the license restrictions.
Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and destroy all copies, full or partial, of the Software in your possession or control.
Sections 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 shall survive termination.
11. Governing Law
This EULA shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hong Kong, excluding its conflicts of law rules.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this EULA shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Hong Kong.
12. Acknowledgement
By installing, activating, copying, or using the Software, you acknowledge that you have read this EULA, understand it, and agree to be bound by its terms and conditions.
If you are accepting this EULA on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to this EULA.
